Even its name makes it an intriguing feat and experience and is enough to entice divers of all experience levels to want to experience and dive this site. It is actually a huge marine sinkhole located in Belize, only 70m from the edge of Belize City. The hole is perfectly circular and is in the center of a reef. The hole is not small by any stretch of the imagination, measuring 318 metres in diameter and around 124 metres deep at its deepest point.

This huge hole wasn’t formed by aliens or even by man, it was nature who created this huge hole at a time when sea levels were notably lower than they are today and took place from 153 000 years ago to as recently as 15 000 years ago. This hole is an amazing dive site and is actually only one part that makes up an impressive reef system in Belize, all of which is worth seeing and exploring.

For new divers, there are lots of day trips and ways to experience this site without getting years of diving experience or expertise. It is not an easy dive, so be sure to train enough.
